GARSTON HOPS
We are Garston Hops
We’re a family-run hop farm in the deep south of New Zealand — farming with heart, purpose, and a touch of wild southern grit. At Garston Hops, we believe in doing things properly — growing premium hops by hand, with care, and staying true to the land that raised us.
Tucked into the heart of Southland at Latitude 45°28’9”S, our farm was once home solely to sheep. Today, it’s where tradition meets innovation. We still run sheep beneath our hop trellises, blending old and new in a way that honours both. From our soil to your glass, every cone we grow carries the story of our place, our people, and our passion.
We’re proud to grow iconic New Zealand hop varieties, as well as exciting new cultivars with bold flavours and aromas—crafted to inspire brewers around the world. Everything we grow is nurtured in the unique climate of our southern valley, where long daylight hours, cold winters, and crystal-clear water work together to produce hops with punch, depth, and character.
Why Garston Hops? Because we know great hops come from great land, and we believe in farming it the right way—sustainably, regeneratively, and with pride.
We’d love to be part of your next great brew.
Hops grown with latitude, helping you create beer with attitude.
Proudly New Zealand Owned & Operated
Garston Hops is 100% New Zealand owned and operated, rooted in the deep south where the mountains meet the plains. You’ll find us in Garston, Northern Southland— just south of Lake Wakatipu, between Queenstown and Fiordland. It’s remote, rugged, and exactly where great hops grow best.
